Name: Mr. Mabra Holeyfield

Education: Hamilton High School Graduate Class of 1961

Mabra Holeyfield is a proud 1961 graduate of Hamilton High School. His higher education experience began as he studied and graduated in 1965 from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He then completed course requirements for the Master’s degree in 1966 with a focus in Guidance and Counseling.

Mabra’s kind, sociable, and engaging attributes, along with his keen acumen for business, served as key catalysts for his next levels of achievement as a “serial entrepreneur”, in his words. To that end, he successfully achieved CHA [Certified Hotel Administrator] status in 1991, which is the most prestigious hospitality certification available to a hotel executive.

With remarkable determination and skills sets always rapidly increasing with each venture, Mabra has established a plethora of notable accomplishments and significant experiences. Beginning from 1968 to present, he has held several professional positions ranging from marketing specialist to vice president to president of various organizations. He has worked with Memphis Chamber of Commerce to assist small businesses with business and marketing plan development and with helping others to obtain financing and corporate contracts. Further, his expertise as a hotelier afforded him management and development opportunities with M-T Manufacturing, Inc.; New Memphis Development Corporation; Banks and Holeyfield Management; Metro Hotel, Inc.; Bluff City Partners, LLC; and A & J Ventures. Each assignment opened many doors for his lengthy record of innovative/ground-breaking collaborative works such as:
  • Tennessee Valley Authority’s solar hot water systems installation,
  • Benchmark hotel development and its national design recognition,
  • Memphis Job Corp Center establishment,
  • Memphis Sounds on the River ownership.
A salute to Mabra Holeyfield who loves Hamilton! Absolutely!

CASE STUDY:

Members of the Hamilton Alumni Association recently reviewed the results of this program.
During the 2012-13 school years, the students that were being tutored outperformed the students that did not need tutoring in every subject. This was truly impressive.

As a result, the Alumni Association has decided to implement the program.

How Can I Get Involved?

We have between 15,000 and 20,000 Alumni. We also have many friends and family that would love to help.

An effective program can be implemented with very little sacrifice on the part of those who
participate. The goal is to get Alumni and Friends of Hamilton to donate at least $12.00 per
month or $144.00 per year.

*The donation is tax deductible because the Alumni Association is a
501(c)3 organization.

The more donations we receive the more tutors we can hire.

It is our desire that you will decide to join other Hamiltonians and support this effort.
